Kid's House - Sisters of the Sacred Heart

The Chaldean church runs a kindergarten in Ankawa called "Kid's House". This project is MCC Global Family supported . We visited the nuns and they fed us a fantastic lunch. Pictured below are some of the nuns that ate with us. There were a number that served and must have eaten in the kitchen. They were all so friendly and nice, that I'm sure they're all saints.

This is a dish called "dolam" which in Sudan we would have called "mashi". Rice, meat and tomato sauce was stuffed into: grape leaves, green peppers, tomatoes, eggplant and onions. Very tasty.

This dish shares a name with an Indian dish called "beryani". It had meat balls, called bird's heads, chicken, cashews, raisins, French firies, rice and noodles in it.
The meal also included lasagna, mixed vegetables and kabobs wrapped in eggplant. After the main course we were served salad dressed with soy sauce, then tea in tiny glasses with mixed nuts, fruit and cookies.
