Suleimaniya is about three hours away from Ankawa. This is the first time we have been out for a day trip into the Kurdish Iraqi countryside. I was surprised to find the Kurdish landscape to be so much like the bad lands in North Dakota.
There are quite a variety of geological formations on the road to Suleimaniya with one mountain pass to climb. In some areas there were green trees, even pine trees.
