Old Testament Prophet - Al Kosh

After lunch on Thursday Jim, Deb, Diana and I took a trip to Al Kosh for a wedding, but also to see the tomb of Nahum.
This crumbling mound is what's left of the tomb. It was only within the last year that a roof was built over it to protect it from the elements.

I can't read the inscription, but I assume it has something to do with the Prophet. We saw the tomb late in the day, so the lighting wasn't wonderful.

Al Kosh is about two hours away from Ankawa, though not that many kilometers. There were about a dozen military check points along the way, and the roads were not all in great shape. At one point we had to detour a city because it is in the contested zone. We had to show photo ID only twice going and twice coming back later at night, though we were scrutinized each time. Being a Christian is helpful in Kurdistan at these check points.
