Saturday Night - Dinner and a movie

Jim and Deb invited us to come to their house after a day of shopping and making exams to cook and relax. I made a Sudanese dip with eggplant and peanut butter.

Jim went out to a corner store to buy a roasted chicken and Deb bought some fresh bread. Carolyn made salad - not pictured.

Diana made a tahini dip and Deb made hummus and supplied roasted red pepper dip.

Jim and Deb have a family room on the upper floor with cushions on the floor. A perfect place to relax and wind down from the week.

We watched a Lebanese movie called "Where Do We Go Now?" It's a movie about a small town with a mosque and church side by side and the conflict between the Muslims and Christians. The women in the film try all kinds of innovative ideas to keep their men from killing each other. This includes things like hiring exotic dancers, serving hashish laced baking, and hiding the men's cache of weapons during the night. Not exactly Mennonite pacifism, but non-violent peace-building none-the-less.
